I have just been contacted by a lawyer representing Sears. I was in a car accident in October 2001, and haven't been able to go back to work yet. My sears account was seriously past due because I haven't the money to pay it. I do get to go back to work on june 1st and tried to make arrangements to get caught up with sears then. The lawyer has given me 20 days to pay 3300.00 or He is taking me to court and putting a lean on my house and Who knows what else. Since my accident almost everything is past due so getting a loan is pretty much out of the question. I am scared to death. What are they alloud to do to me, and since its a lawyer doing this do they have to accept payments on it. They seem to make me think its the whole balance or Court. Can they take my house from me. The balance is 3900.00 but if i pay by june 20th then they will settle at 3300.00. Please help, I am petrified.
Thanks
