As I remember, you were still within the SOL limit -had a big equity-low homestead exemption.
If you are going to try to settle this account,you should get a lawyer to do the negotiating for you, preferably a bk lawyer. Once they start dealing with a bk lawyer the creditors always seem to want to deal. You will save more, even paying a legal fee, than trying to do-it-yourself.
