Losing Home?

I have a nightmare of a situation on my hands. The last 4 yrs I have been fighting employment vs unemployment after being downsized from a wonderful job prior to that. In spite of this, I managed to keep my home. To do this, I paid my mortg on the last day of the month instead of the first. Then . . .

The mortgage company made an error on my account (according to my mortgage rep). It showed me as owing about $800 but this was their error. Before the correction showed in their computer, some idiot the very next day tore up the payment I made over the phone.

I didn't find out about this until the next month when I called to make my payment.

I got shuffled to collections and told they had issued a foreclosure demand and I had to pay three payments by 5 pm two days from then.

I went to see an attorney. Rather than dispute their error by sending to the mortgage co the letter I drafted stating the events, he told me to simply refinance or sell and buy another place (which is what I'd prefer. He told me not to make my house payments but to use the money to do the repairs I needed to do to sell it.

In the meantime, because of a BK two years ago my credit score is low and my report needs tons of clean-up to get erroneous entries off it. This should raise my score. I was told I need to raise it at least 40 pts.

Now I am in a panic! The attorney now changes his tune and tells me I am in danger of losing my home.

HELP!
