Send a letter to whoever issues the protection plan that you want it cancelled immediately. They should refund your money. Send the credti card company a copy of the same letter, along with a letter saying you want to close the credit card account. Cut up the card and send it back with the letter. If you have a balance on the card, you still have to pay it off. Sometimes it's better to pay off the balance and then close the card.
