Thanks. I have talked to an attorney but have wondered if he just pushed the BK for his fees. Trut me, we are not going into this lightly. After my Husband was laid off a few years ago, we fought very hard to keep from having to file. We worked with CCCS. However, they lost one of my payments (luckily I had given the money order in person and got a receipt.) Then they decided we could only mail them in. They lost another. A few months later, they closed their doors in my town. That really messed us up with the creditors. After I was diagnosed with a chronic disease and later lost my job, it was too much to handle. Most of our non-secured debt has been charged off and given to CAs. One OC is suing us. It has been one and a half years since the charge offs. Our only asstes are our house which has maybe $5,000 in equity and our vehicle (purchased used) which has a value of I think $7,000 and we still owe $5,000. That is really it. The lawyer says for us to go Chapter 7 but I have to hurry and get my house and car payments current. Anyways, thanks for the advice. I guess our lawyer is right after all.
