Oh.. I'm heeeerrrrreeee... :)

CAMCO has hit my fiance twice, yes. The first account contact came about a year ago, and they're still calling about it. He's rarely home, travels all the time, so their calls are useless. He sent them a settlement offer back in Jan 2002 for an amount less than 5% of the total, and they ACCEPTED it..which just tells me the debt they're hounding him for is old, and probably beyond SOL. That account wasn't on the CR's he pulled last year. He never sent them the money, I lost my job right after that so he had to use the money to help me out. However, they DID accept and we have their signed acceptance letter.

This 'new' letter came just a couple of weeks ago. It seems to be another in their recent flurry of dinosaur collections. A woman calls daily on this, says 'mention Case number xxxxxx etc.' and, naturally, she says its 'urgent' that he contact her. As I said before this account CAMCO bought from another CA, Fourscore something, and before that it was a CitiBank account. Once again, this account does NOT show up on CR's he pulled last year, so I'm certain its past SOL too. He doesn't have a CitiBank card and hasn't as long as I've known him.

I don't think we can link this last letter to any recent credit apps or anything, but who can be sure ? He travels a lot, has many credit cards for that purpose and did just recently get a new one. However, they already had him in their files from the first one.

I just can't see how they can legally get away with suing someone in another state, using ancient addresses, when they DO have a legitimate, current address and their letters ARE delivered to it.

I think that if EVERYONE here, and other places, who has been contacted by these dirtbags about out-of-statute debts files and on-line complaint with the FTC, they just MIGHT take notice. A flood of complaints would certainly be a jolt that someone should surely notice. I think we should do just that.
