If you take a look at the sheer number of default judgements that they have obtained just in this year alone, I think you have a very good point. Even if they never took anything to trial, they hundreds of thousands of dollars in defalt judgements that they can collect on. Considering that it costs less than $100 to file a suit and get a default judgement, this is a VERY profitable line of work for the CA's and their lawyers. The CA's buy up the bad debt for maybe 3 or 4 cents on the dollar. The lawyers probably all work on the standard 1/3 contengency, so there are no upfront costs to the CA to bring suits. They are making money hand over fist.
