sudden phone call after 7 years to collect unknown debit

How can a credit card company call after 7 years and tell you that you owe then x amout. And when you say I have no Idea what you are talking about to send documents of such. After 2 mo. when they send the copy is so dark and unreadable. You call them and ask for a new copy that is readable they give you the run around. What do you do? Jennifer
