I called the collection attorney and she said that I have 2 options: 1. make payments of about 50.00 per week to pay the debt in full or 2. make a settlement offer but it has to be paid in one lump sum. I do not have alot of money but if I make payments then I will be paying for my ex-husband's half. My ex already told me he is not paying anything. He is very irresponsible and suing him means nothing. He works under the table and has nothing to show for it. I have alot to lose. I'm remarried, we own a home and I just bought a new car. I do not want my new husband to be affected by this situation. Any suggestions on how to get half of $8500.00? Like I said before, I do not want to be responsible for my ex-husband's half of this debt.
