180 days is the length of time that creditors are required by law to file charge offs (apparently done so investors can be kept up on whether a company is losing money or not). They can probably still sue you before that time if you haven't paid. I don't know if there is recourse for the 180 days (probably not) but if you were never properly served...there may be recourse there.
