It's not unrealistic to expect your fee to be credited to the account and have the account noted closed by consumer.
It is not realistic to expect them to settle for less than owed. Nor, is it a good idea for you to stop paying. They'll list any number of lates on the account and then, charge it off. That'll wreck your credit report. Not to mention the real possibility that they'll sue you for the balance.
