I am looking at the bankruptsy as a very last resort. I don't want to do it. We have even considered selling our house and renting for a while, though my husband doesn't want to do that, we could rent for a lot less than what we are paying now. I don't want to do anything to bring my credit even lower, I do not show any "lates" on my credit report, but the points are lower because of the amount of debt. My husband has a few lates, and one charge-off that was an honest mistake not receiving a bill and thought the thing had been paid (a Verizon cell-phone bill) and paid it as soon as he realized what was going on, it shows as a charge-off/paid (I think that is about how it was worded)but we are trying to get that resolved by paying everything on time, even if it is just the minimum. How bad is one charge-off/paid? It was for under $300.00 and he paid it in full.

I appreciate the information, I would much rather try my best to pay everything than go the other route, but thought I would check into the debt relief, but won't do it if it will bring my credit even lower.
