COLLECTION LETTER? WHAT TO DO?

I recently received a few calls and now a letter from a ca for payment of an account I don't even know about. All my accounts were charged off in 1996 in California so I am sure it is past SOL. In fact it does not appear on my credit reports (Experian,Equifax)
Question: Do I ignore it or send them some kind of letter? I don't even know what account it is.
