I'd strongly urge you to see a lawyer in your state with this question. You may well hide but you can't run from anyone who wants to file suit. All states have some mechanism where a complaint can be filed against someone who can't be located. It can be anything from a letter to the last known address to publication of a legal notice in a newspaper in the last known county of residence and anything in between. If this is a real concern, see a lawyer.
