First off, I have a old credit card debt from first national bank of omaha. Last month I get two letters in the mail from two different debt collectors trying to collect the same debt from the same account! One is in Ohio, and the other is in Philadelphia. One claims I owe $3029.79, the other claims I owe 3936.73! So who do I believe, and who do I pay? If I pay one, whats to stop the other from trying to collect what I already paid? Is this a common practice? I decided to get a copy of my credit report, and it states I owe $3249 on that account! So thats three different amounts for the same account. The credit report also states the account is charged off. If its charged off, isnt it sold to someone? I don't understand how both places can be trying to collect. Any advice?
