Mike I am in a similar situation as you are. I own my home, but we refinanced it in 6/01 for a lower rate. So no equity in it. But I sent letters to all my creditors and adviced them of an address and phone number change. My hubby and I rented a small mail box at mailboxes etc and we got a voice mail box to where they can call their hearts out and leave all kinds of messages. It has helped our peace of mind. We have not spoken to anyone since July/Aug. 02. We still get phone calls at the house from them, but we have caller id and only answer the calls we know. We also have cell phones for emergency situations. We are still waiting to see if the bomb is going to drop. But we are trying to get ahead and save a little incase something does happen.

We have an Autistic child who requires special schooling and daycare needs. However our biggy that is coming down the pike is a paternity suit on a child my husband never knew about who is soon to turn 12 and the state wants back child support with a 12.5% interest rate along with the present and future child support. So I empathize with you and hopefuly Texas will prove to be debator friendly state as Holly and Kelly stated for both of us. Good Luck and Best Wishes!!!
