I had several days of anguish over a similar tactic by NCO ! They left a message on my answering machine (which is my pc, btw) saying I had to contact them about a 'claim filed against you in this office', gave some #, then said 'that's Montgomery County #" and gave that same alpha-numeric 'case number'. I started to freak out a bit worrying about having to call the county courthouse to find out about this 'case number' they'd given. The message didn't identify that it was NCO and when I called the number at 9PM (no intention of talking to anyone, just wanted to see if there was any identification of the company) a woman answered said 'this is xxxx' - again, not identification beyond that. I hung up, of course. That was last Wed. night, and I procrastinated about calling the courthouse on Thurs, or Friday. I'm trying to get packed to move and I'm also worrying about this stupid mess. I lost my nerve and hadn't called the courthouse, figured it could wait 'til Monday anyway. The threatening call was on 2/19, and I've not seen anything like a summons in any form.

Today, I was going thru some of my recent bills and papers looking for something and came across the usual BS letter from NCO demanding payment in full. It did include the 30 day notice to dispute, but guess what, the verbage has been deemed a violation of the FDCPA - no suprise there ! Anyway, on this forgotten letter they referenced this same alpha-numeric number they referrred to in their call as a 'Montgomery county # xxxxx' !! Whew ! Now I KNOW its bogus and they're full of CRAPOLA !!

I have a doctor's appt. on Friday.. I just might mention the stress level caused by these maggots from NCO !!! Talk about misrepresentation.. geez !
