Hire a lawyer -- don't write letters cuz they don't work?

First, I am told here and in WhyChat's site: write letters. This will take care of it. Complain to agencies. Don't worry, CamCo is wrong and illegal and you must write these letters of complaint to agencies and to the CRA and to CamCo to stand up to them and to add a complaint to the various bureaus to add your voice to the throngs and thus take care of yourself and help protect others in the future.

Next, the same people who say write letters and complain to agencies (Whychat and Scott) say, writing letters is a waste of time, just whistling in the wind. The only effective thing to do is to hire a lawyer and press charges.

Which advice is correct? Which will take care of the problem?? Which will take the report off my credit report?

Of course, Whychat, if I were being burgled, I'd call the police and report it. But I wouldn't write a letter to the Burglar telling him to cease and desist. I would take definitive action. I might even shoot him . And afterwards, I might even start a town watch system and unite with my neighbors to protect us all.

But the crucial thing in my mind would be to call the police and shoot him

I have received ONE letter from CamCo. I want it to stop. Which venue is the correct one? These conflicting instructions are playing with my mind.

Please help clear up my confusion!

Thanks
Papillon

In Reply to: Why should I go to court when this forum says writing letters is the solution? posted by Papillon on March 23, 2003 at 08:29:06:

If you are being harrassed by a crook, or a thief is sneaking into your home to steal your $$,wouldn't you press charges??

Yes, you can scare them off with the letters, yes you can complain to the FTC, BBB and your State AG office, but the best way to protect yourself is to join with others in a class action suit. (I personally think small claims court is a waste of time with these crooks, however, others disagree) <<
