Oh Boy,
To have anything to do with AssXXXX hAcc-septic Copro-ration is to by definition, have a problem. Just thinking about their practices gives one the urgent desire for a de-lousing shower.
You have come to the right place. This fine company, whose website reads like the on-line version of "American Psycho", the shock-novel of the early-nineties, has many fine friends with long memories. Right here, on this board.
This company as LadynRed and Scott have mentioned, is notorious for filing time-barred suits on SOL debts. It's a numbers game, really, just like going to the dog track.
They file reams of worthless, illegal suits against individuals who have no obligation whatsoever to pay the debt sued upon. This company, whose founder, one Rufus H. "Bud" "The Dean of Bad Debt" Reitzel, of Grosse Pointe, MI and Lakeland, FL, counts on defendants' unawareness of their rights and protections and as well their fear of judicial process to work in their crooked favor.
This company hopes as do they all that those sued fail to make timely reply, thus gleaning for themselves a default judgement to clutch in their little sausage fingers. But you have taken the first step to sprag the twisted dreams of these contemporary predators. You have asked questions and will hopefully act upon the adroit answers provided.
To your future questions you will find yet again many helpful people here only too happy to assist you in sticking a fork in the nose of this swinelike-bully-boy concatenation of blood ticks otherwise known as....what's that name again? Oh, yeah, AAC.
Hey, check out the part on their website in which the founder describes this business as 'fascinating' and as well the old barnyard bromide about how their 'highly trained collections professionals' adhere to 'highest industry standards'.
Right. Much as dog droppings display a uniformity of composition, pigmentation, and bouquet. And all to the highest standards.
Re-aging your account is a serious offense. Companies like AAC care not about rules, they build fines into their operating budgets. Nevertheless, start immediately with FTC complaints as well as reports to your AG and the Michigan AG. Florida might not be a bad place to file a gripe as well. The FL Div. Banking is the current responsible agency.
Why FL, you axe? Well, AAC has been boasting for too long about their new offices on Katy Drive in Brandon, FL, southeast of Tampa. They have made their presence known here in the same manner that a two year old brat with a fouled diaper wanders into the grownups party at desert time and proceeds to share the wealth, so to speak.
Remember, always a sign of good breeding is to give credit where credit is due. And this scumbag shakedown cabal needs all the credit we can bequeath.
Hope this helps. Write soon, AAC has a special place in my long term memory, others as well.

Ta ta,

Keyser Soze
