If the item was not on your credit report, then you should have disregarded the letter. The correspondance that you received is from a company that buy's deliquent accounts in hopes of scaring people into paying up. You may have a big mistake buy contacting them, because they make now be legally entitled to "activate" the debt and have it restored to your credit report.

I suggest that you contact one of those non profit groups like consumer credit counseling ASAP to confirm what I've said. A word of advise: If the debt does not appear on your credit report IT DOES NOT EXIST! Good Luck
