ex-wife's bankruptcy *reposess car*collection after me

In 2000 my ex-wife filed bankruptcy, we had been divorced for 2yrs prior. A car we had in co-signorship was repossed without my knowledge(the car remained in her posession for yrs while she made payments on it. Her attorney nor her never notified me after her filing. A $13k car was sold at auction for $2K according to the collection agency who is after me for $11,900. now!! No certified letters informing me of selling "my or our" car was sent to me, which is a state law to notify the owner within a number of days. There has never been any proof of this 2K sale or paperwork sent to me. How can I resolve this without paying $11,900 for nothing!!
