Bankruptcy is a sign of weakness. Allowing the credit card companies to violate usury laws, act with non-disclosure and then telling them "you know what, it's OK to burden me and then put me in financial misery." isn't right. But it's really all about the education and what you really know about finance, if you know what I mean. [Evidently, there are basic things that your missing.] Find out where the credit you received came from and what it truly is before you commit to bankruptcy. Bankruptcy may be a popular move but not always right for everyone. The law is there to help you. It always has been and always will be.
