Your friend might be better off doing their own repair, have not seen any repair places that really help people. Mostly they take your money, and mess up your report even further.
Another option might be to talk with the creditors and see if they can be placed in a hardship program. You would have to call each creditor and ask if they have it or something similar to work with.
