Yep, I'm in the same boat.

Found a 1999 charge from Boomtown Reno for $1025 on my credit report in January of 2003. Called Boomtown in January, and it was clear to them that the debt was not mine. I had it cleared off my credit report effective 2/12/2003. In May I start receiving the JBC letters. I wrote to Boomtown instead and they sent me a letter of apology, including the fact that the debt was not mine AND they (Boomtown) faxed my letter, the original debt information and a letter to JBC to leave me alone.

Do they? Of course not. A couple of weeks ago I get the next JBC letter, threatening to take me to court in 20 days. I called Boomtown Director of Finance. He calls JBC and they hang up on him. He calls again the next day and they basically tell him to kiss off because the debt is no longer Boomtowns. He has since contacted their attorney and the debt collection agency that they actually contract with (not JBC).

I have now sent a registered/certified letter to JBC requesting that they please take me to court. In fact I even gave them the address of the Superior Court of the county where I live. I also requested verification of the debt. They received my letter about 10 days ago, but to date, I have heard nothing.

Extremely tempted to take them to court for my time and exasperation/frustration/stress in dealing with them.

I'd love to get them in a court room.

Oh and so far, I have filed a complaint with the FTC on them....more to come.
