I will tell you what I counsel some people to do. Lay low, don't show how well you know the law, play dumb, string them along, if you can't take the calls and harrassment, try just using an anwering machine to screen all your calls.As long as the ca collectors think they have a chance of collecting they won't turn you over to legal. Don't give them ANY information about chcking accounts, relatives, friends or neighbors,If they call you at work, tell them you are not allowed to take calls there and will get fired if they call.
Don't admit or deny the debt, tell the truth, you can't pay right now-- but you are hopeful of (whatever in the future may be true-or almost true).

Check your SOL, as soon as you are beyond the legal SOL for your State, you can pull out ALL the validation, cease and desist and dispute letters you want to.
