More payday loan help PLEASE

Does anyone know if a payday loan company can have you prosecuted for a bad check if you did everything online? I did not actually sign or make out a check, it was just used as part of the loan process. I have read that they cannot do that, yet a law firm is calling me saying that they will treat it as a bad check. Am I the only one having these problems? Please help. Thanks
