As bad as this sounds I am not gonna spend countless hours finding the caselaw to prove it. I have, however, seen it many many times. The FCRA allows $1000 per violation. The FDCPA allows up to $1000 per 'case' as you have put it. However, when I sued a couple of CAs I just sued for the max allowed in small claims. It makes a great bargaining tool.
