I helped bail a friend out of Jail in 2001 in California and he agreed to make the make the balance of the payments. The contract was in my name. Two payments were made but the balance of 995 remained unpaid since 10/01. I was under the impression that he was paying as agreed, but was recently contacted by a bureau of recovery in california. I moved, never received a statement that payment was in default until contacted by CA two days ago. I wanted to pay the debt in a few installments which I can do (which is now at $1500), but they want me to sign a confession of judgement. What is this and is there a way to possibly make payments without this judgement. Can anyone help
