I don't know this firm, but my guess is that they will offer to negotiate a lower settlement for you - say 30 or 40% of the alleged debt. Then you pay them a percentage of what you did not pay. Example- Settle a $10,000 debt for 3K and then you give them a percentage of the 7K you didn't have to pay. In this economy, everyone is trying everything to make money. They may be up to something else, but I doubt it is straight mediation. In that case, both sides pay an hourly fee with usually a two minimum. Real mediators listen to both sides and try to achieve a compromise that both sides can live with. Let us know if you call them. PS Unless they found a major flaw in the lawsuit - there are some lawyers that do that and then contact you to call them. They can get a lot of money from the other side so they charge you a minimal amount.
