Need advice about ch 7 bk with judgements

Hi: I have currently 3 judgements against me as I hadn't founf this site prior to it happening. I have been paying on 1 and the balance is currently $3,200. I have another with Discover with a $7,000 balance and a third with First Usa for around $6,000. the last 2 have frozen my bank account (No balance, but I cant get to use it). I have avoided BK since I thought I could continue to deal with these people. Obviously I was wrong. Ch-7 or any other form of Bk scares me because I am a teacher and dont want it on record, but on the other hand I was advised that Bk shows that I am tring to clean all this mess up. I was out of work for 3 years and accummulated that debt in the process. I am currently in my 2nd full year of teaching and still the $$$$$$$$ is tight as I am paying for grad classes out of my pocket. Any advice on a direction would be great. If Bk is the answer, what type of $$ do I need in New York State to complete this. I have no assets except for paying into my retirement. Is there any other option besides BK at this point? I am scared as hell to do it, but I dont see any other answer right now.
