Very important question. I am basically sold on the idea of a ch7 bk within the next few weeks. My finances are a mess. I was out of work for 2 years back 7 years ago and have not yet recovered. I owe over $20,000 to various charge offs and my question is this.

I am a teacher in New York State and am in the 2nd year of my 3 year tenure process. Can my credit be used to give or hold back on tenure? Would that be legal? Also, would a ch7 effect me in this process possibly, or could it be looked at as trying to get my life in order.

I really have no assets, only debts, so my losses in a ch7 are only my reputation. My fear of how it would look has been the only thing to hold me back. I even thought that I could negotiate a partial pay off of these cards, but instead they ended up being judgements (2-3)

I do have 1 more question. Are unpaid state taxes included in a bankruptsy? Also, how can I get a credit report with no credit card to pay for it? My bank account was frozen, so I have no access to checks. This was what made me make the decision to file BK and get this all fixed.

I have read about the post BK sites and am very interested in getting my life in total order. You guys are really great with all the advice and directions. I am embarassed to have gotten to this spot in my life but feel that the light may be brighter at the end of the tunnel than originally thought.

Any advice would be great!
