Under the FCRA, you can request a CRA to VERIFY the information they are reporting with the information provider.

Under the FDCPA, you can request that a CA VALIDATE a debt. The section on validation then uses then says the CA must VERIFY the debt with the owner of the debt...It does not spell out what constitutes VALIDATION. However, some states do provide a better definition - check your state statutes.
