The Telephone - Tool of Extortion

RE: Charged Off Sold Debt
(This screed does NOT apply to OC or pre-chargeoff debt)

The telephone is really the only tool that scavenger debt collectors have at their disposal to extort your money from you. They’ve ‘purchased’ your debt for half a penny to 9 cents on the dollar (depending on age since chargeoff) and come calling to collect the full amount. If you’ve reached this stage, it means your OC has deemed you ‘judgment proof’ or not worth the expense to sue. If it were worth suing you, your OC would have done so. OCs have much to lose by threatening suits that they don’t intend to pursue, so they quickly flush your worthless debt to fly-by-night scavenger agencies that routinely break the law by threatening law suits against you. They will threaten you with fraud, jail, embarrassment, and a whole slew of personal insults and invective. You have the ability to neuter this debt collector. Take his tool away. Don’t talk to debt collectors on the telephone. Without the telephone, the shylock debt collection agency is nothing but a harem of eunuchs.

Don’t talk with debt collectors on the telephone. I’ve received hundreds of messages telling me, “If you don’t call back by 5:30 this afternoon, then it’s out of our hands, good luck.” What this means is you will get a call the next week from the next collector in the cubicle over who will start all over with, “If you don’t call by 5:30, don’t bother calling at all; it’s too late, good luck.” Well I didn’t bother calling back at all, and all I get is another call the next week from the next cubicle bound drone saying, “If you don’t call by 5:30 we will be referring this account for further collection activity, good luck.” A few times I even got, “If you don’t call by 5:30, the next person you see will be the deputy sheriff, good luck.” I’m still looking for that sheriff so I must have pretty good luck. (Good luck is the standard script collectors use to instill some type of psychological fear of impending doom at the end of their messages.) Dozens of times I’ve heard, “We’re calling about a case pending against you in XYZ County.” I’ve checked; the cases must be pending in their addled minds, because there’s no ‘legal’ cases pending anywhere.

The gasbags at collection agencies are enough to relaunch the Hindenburg. Either get caller id and screen your calls, or send a C&D and SOL letter if you are beyond SOL. You emasculate the debt collector to an impotent gelding when you castrate his only tool, the ‘telephone.’ You do nothing to help your credit by paying these parasitical sponges; the OC whom you once owed gets NOTHING from your payment. Assuage your conscience by donating money to charity. Macro-economically speaking, collection agencies of ‘bought’ debt act as a tax on the economy. Make these welfare queens get productive jobs. Spend your money on productive segments of society. The economy and society are better off if you DON’T pay these dumpster diving leeches.
