Have NO idea what to do??

I am 23,000 in debt with ONE credit card. I don't have a job right now and have been basically living off my credit card. I have decided to go back to school full time to finish my degree so I can once and for all get a GOOD paying job, so therefore, I can't pay the credit card off now. What is the best thing to do. Call the CC company and ask them if they can wait a year before I can pay them back? Not that I would or want to do this but what can the cc company do to you if ou just tell them that you can't pay them??
