chargeoff payments?

ok. so i have 2 charged off credit cards as of 1 year ago. one of which i know has been sold to an outside creditor. northland group keeps hounding me (while at work) about paying them. i'd mention the rep's name but that has no relevance, i suppose. so am i legally bound to pay them back? my credit is already screwed for the next 6 years. from my research, they fall off of my record after that, right? and i dont plan on buying a house by then anyway. ok, another question, when do i contact them to ask them to quit harrassing me? in 3 years since the sol has passed then? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks,
