You can ask at any time for them to C&D. The CA's next move will depend on certain factors such as; how much is owed, age of debt, do you have any assets to get, could they garnish wages etc. It's all about recovery of the debt.

You might want to try a lump sum settlement for a reduced price.
A payment plan with them.

If you decide to offer a lump sum or enter into any payment plans, make sure your agreement is in writing and make sure it always includes deletion of your account. This is obviously not inclusive of everything that would need to be in your written agreement, just some things for you to consider.
