CA responded to a complaint to the state attorney general by sayign they are NOT a debt collector and they only collect on debts they own. Also said they buy account in the normal course of their business - NOT that the accounts they buy are bad debts that have long been written off. Tried to say they had validated the debt and complied with FDCPA and stated they would continue collection efforts. They then turned around and said I was wasting the AG's time and that I was just tryign to avoid my debt and I should sign an affidavit under penalty of perjury saying I did not owe the debt.... I replied to it to the Attorney General and then sent a copy to the ACA with a formal complaint about their misrepresentation to the state attorney general, violations of FDCPA, FCRA and state licensing laws (state license agency has confirmed they are supposed to be licensed despite claims of being a debt buyer...)

They signed the letter "A debt collection company" is the state attorney general going to just let it slide? Or if I point out the problems in their reply to the complaint (blatant lies, defamation of my character rather than answering the specific complaints etc) can I expect that they will do something about them out and out lying????
