I don't recommend lying as that does not help. Refinancing a home to pay off credit card debt unless it brings your monthly payments for your mortgage down is not always a good idea. Have you consulted an attorney. Sometimes bankruptcy may be a solution. If you expect a significant long-term reduction in expenses, don't put your equity or your home in jeopardy.

In some plans like Chapter 13 or Wage Earner plan, you get to keep the home, the creditors can't bother you and I heard the Wage Earner plan of bankruptcy does not have the same negative credit reporting status as the other two.
