Hmm. How do you KNOW that there is a judgment? How did they obtain that (if there is one) without properly notifying you? If there is a judgment, I'd probably see if I could get it vacated since you were never properly notified. It may now be beyond SOL. If you do want to pay for it though, I'd write (CRRR) both companies and require them to demonstrate proof that they have a right to collect anything. If there is a judgment, and they sold THAT, again there should be proof of that. Make sure you do not pay anything until you find out who the correct party is IN WRITING and also get in writing that they will remove the TL in exchange for payment.
