old judgement

Hi 12 years ago i had a car repo. since then .My husband died I live on a very small amount of social security . For me and my son. I have lived a my address for 9 years and never recived any paper work about the car until yesterday . saying they are in the proceeding to execute on the judgement entered in favor of their client. I didnt even know their was any such judgement.I was never notified. How can I find out if a judgement was entered and how do I remove It.I know I still owe the debt. but I really do not have 12,000 dollars. To pay them .I have a hard time keeping up with my bills .back in sept i recived a copy of my credit report and it said nothing about a judgement. I live in N.J. if that helps please help me any way you can. Should i call this lawyer and tell them that i have nothing. I really dont know what to do ...... THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP........
