It has not changed.

The lawyer you spoke to may be correct, however, it does not prevent you from raising the issue as a defense if you are sued.

Have you confirmed with the Court that a claim was filed? Or are you taking a CA's "word" for it.

If you pay, or settle, or sign ANYTHING acknowledging this account,you will be, in my opinion making matters worse for yourself.
