I live in a big city, so my experience might be a little different. Your local newspaper MIGHT publish when you file bk. Mine did not. Probably too many in the city. Most of the work was done at home. I had to list all my possessions. Even my dog. My attorney gave me a questionaire regarding assets. Can't say that is was not a little uncomfortable to list everything in the house,but I was assured, and I will assure you that they are not intersted in your furniture or electronics. The creditors meeting was pretty easy though. I had my husband and attorney with me. No creditors showed up, they almost never do. Non of my creditor objected to anything. I hadn't used a credit card in 5 years at the time of my bk. They will ask when you last used a credit card.
You have to list all bank accounts, tax returns for the last two years. The trustee in my case was a very nice man, and even made sure that the law suit against me at been stopped. The trustee is the luck of the drawl. I think most are pretty decent though. I did not have to go court to court at all.
