I live in a big city, so my experience might be a little different. Your local newspaper MIGHT publish when you file bk. Mine did not. Probably too many in the city. Most of the work was done at home. I had to list all my possessions. Even my dog. My attorney gave me a questionaire regarding assets. Can't say that is was not a little uncomfortable to list everything in the house, but I was assured, and I will assure you that they are not intersted in your furniture or electronics. The creditors meeting was pretty easy though. I had my husband and attorney with me. No creditors showed up, they almost never do. Non of my creditor objected to anything. I hadn't used a credit card in 5 years at the time of my bk. They will ask when you last used a credit card.
You have to list all bank accounts, tax returns for the last two years. The trustee in my case was a very nice man, and even made sure that the law suit against me at been stopped. The trustee is the luck of the drawl. I think most are pretty decent though. I did not have to go court to court at all. I received my discharge about six months after the creditors meeting via regular mail. Keep reading and educating yourself here. Read the web site, when you need support it is here. Good Luck.
