There is a trick to enforcing the judgment. First they have to have a real judgment, and they have to renew the judgment before the original judgment statute of limitations expires. So you first need to find out when the original judgment was put against you. Is there anything in your credit report? Then you have to find out where the judgment has to be renewed, which court. It might be the district court so you need to find out. THen you have to find out if it is still good.

The judgment should have a file number on it. They can look it up through the file number that is associated with it. If it doesn't have a file number, and there is no court record of it, you might want to protest it. It might have expired and the court had expunged its records.

I am not a lawyer so I am not familiar with New York law but this kind of sounds fishy if no one can tell you anything about it. They should have it on file somewhere.
