If you have never been in a courtroom at all before, you should go sit in and observe a session just to get comfortable with the surrounding in general. If you can look up your court's civil calendar online, look for a calendar of "civil motions" and go sit in on a session. Maybe there will be a motion for summary judgement on a case and you can see what the process is like. If you can't look anything up online, just call the clerk's office and explain that you've never been in a courtroom before and would like to observe to get comfortable for your upcoming date. This is what I did for small claims - just asked the clerk, walked in the courtoom and sat quietly in the back and observed.
