If the account’s been sold DON’T PAY!

You should NEVER pay a collection agency that “bought” your debt. 20 years ago, the OC’s would just keep sending your accounts to contingency fee agencies for a few years. If nothing was collected, they’d throw the account out in the trash. Now, this new breed of scavenger called debt buyers have shown up. They pick through the trash and offer the OC 2 cents on the dollar for this garbage. I don’t like garbage pickers. I especially don’t like garbage pickers who get my trash account for 2 cents on the dollar and try to sell it BACK to me for FULL PRICE! Can you spell E-X-T-O-R-T-I-O-N? And I really don’t like garbage pickers whose whole business is based on threats and intimidation while they funnel large quantities of cash through multiple operating units. Can you spell L-A-U-N-D-E-R-I-N-G of money? That’s why you shouldn’t pay these bums who sifted through your own trash and are trying to sell a 2-cent on the dollar account back to you.
