I recieved a letter from a property management company, that I rented from in college. (1997).
" XXX Mangagement Company is seeking to collect the past due debt stated above. Unless you within 30 days after reciept of this notice, dispute the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by this office. If you notify me in writing within the 30- period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, I will obtain verification of the debt and the copy of the verification will be mailed to you by me. Upon your written request within the 30-day period, I will provide you with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor. XXX Management Company my institue litigation prior to the experation of the 30-day period. Please contact me regarding this debt. If you agree that you owe the debt, prompt payment will resolve this matter. "

I did live in this apartment back in 1997 and moved out in 1998. Attached to this letter was a bogus Tenant Ledger stating that I was evicted. Its March 2004 and I recieved this letter in the mail yesterday! They want me to pay $750. Should I blow it off or call them up and complain? IS this legal? Its been almost seven years, I dont have the records or the bank statements to prove that I paid.
What should I do? Thanks in advance.
