My $14,400 Chase credit card charged off in November 2003 (I lost my job in 2002). Today I received a call from Phillips & Cohen, stating that they can offer me a $7K settlement with $2,100 down and payments of $100/month. I told them we are on one income and I'd have to talk to my husband. They said if I don't make a settlement with them, they will sue me and get a judgement against me and seize my assets. The only asset I have is my home and checking account, but my husband's name is also on the title/mortgage & account. Can they touch our home or checking account, since my husband was not on the Chase card, but is on the assets? Thanks in advance!
