No, the CA can not garnish your wages unless he sues you and gets a judgement against you first. You don't say how much this bill is or if you have other unpaid bills. OK, the CA will only sue if he can collect on the judgement. What state are you in. There was a discussion here the other day, and if you are in a low paying job, they may not be able to garnish at all. Also, there are a few state where they can not garnish. If you give me your state I can give you a link to exemptions in judgements and bk. If you have a lot of bills, then bk might be a good option.
