WOW! You're kidding! I had a judgment put on me in 1996 for an account I stopped paying on in 1992. I stopped making payments after a few years when I found out the account was sold or transferred to Providian. The original bank that got the judgment was First National and they are out of business now. Now I just received a letter from this same attorney/collector that I owe Chase Bank $12K. So it has been sold/transferred again! The original debt was for $3,900. It's been years since I've heard anything and this lawyer tracked me down again (probaby because I refinanced my house). I can only guess it is this same account he keeps trying to bring back to life because I don't have any debts that I am in arrears with. I have excellent credit and none of this is on my credit reports. It's all come and gone. I am willing to bet he has not filed ANYTHING with the court. What are the options on something like this, if they do not file with the court? I need info on judgment laws and transferring accounts and such. Can anyone help? I keep feeling this lawyer is going to come after me again soon. I am a victim in this whole thing, by the way. I didn't even make the charges, someone charged the card maliciously to make my life miserable.
