I ignored them for years. I was sued by one CA. (very close to SOL) I had 13 charged off accounts. It costs money to file suit against you. They must hire a New York attorney to sue you and that too costs money. Of course they are not going to tell you that if you don't pay they will go away, but most likely they will. NO GUARANTEES. But, unless you have attachable assets that they know about, they are not going to waste their time and money. They deal with 100s of accounts. Their job is to collect as much money as fast as possible. I do own a house, but the CA that sued me was located in Canada, (not an American company with offices in Canada) and I think they did not realize that state law varied from state to state. My state law protected my home (big asset). I filed bk using state exemptions and that was that. This particular CA seems to have disappeared from everywhere. I read and post on a few different boards and never hear a word about them. There web site in gone too. So, I think the fact that I was sued was more of a freak thing. I had every major CA on my report, but they did not sue. I rarely ever spoke with a CA, and it wasn't long before they stopped bothering me. I had a lot of credit and stopped paying all credit cards at the same time.(accident) Lots and lots and lots of phone calls. No, it is my opinion, based on my experience that ignoring them will not trigger a law suit.
